mI:Deal

The Panini mI:Deal is conceived for low volume Remote Deposit Capture applications, but can also be used for low volume teller image capture. It’s capable of accurately reading the magnetic (E13B, CMC7) or optical codelines of checks and other check-sized documents (e.g. payment slips, stubs, restaurant vouchers, lottery tickets and similar), and capturing their front and rear images, which can be used for check clearing in lieu of the physical document. This allows to leverage regulations on image-based check truncation in force in different markets, and to attain the related efficiencies and savings.

The mI:Deal captures front and rear images in greyscale or black & white, up to 300 dpi, in various formats (BMP, TIFF G4, JPEG, GIF). Front and rear imaging requires separate passes, but the sequence is automated and the document needs to be fed only once. The mI:Deal will not capture color images: if color is needed, you can consider the Panini Vision E in its 1F (single feed) configuration.

The mI:Deal can apply a fixed-message franking on the front of the check. The functionality is always active, but the franking roller must be purchased as a consumable. In addition to front franking, virtual endorsement can be applied to the rear image, via software function. If you need ink jet endorsement on the rear of the check, please consider the Panini Vision E in its 1F (single feed) configuration.

The pocket will hold up to 10 checks, in the order in which they were processed. Three passes are needed for a check to scan front and rear, then store it in the pocket. If each check is collected from the feeder before feeding the next one, instead of stacking them in the pocket, then two passes are sufficient.

Thanks to Panini’s unique and patented Everest intelligent scanner architecture, the mI:Deal can connect to a variety of hosts (PC, Mac, smartphone, tablet, POS terminal, and more) using different Operating Systems (MS Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS, etc.) and with a number of interfaces (USB RNDIS, direct network connection via Ethernet or Wi-Fi) – ensuring unsurpassed flexibility and enabling a wide range of use cases. Communication between host and scanner is carried out via HTTPS secure protocol, with no need to install and maintain APIs or drivers. Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity require an optional USB dongle.

The mI:Deal will process one check at a time. For environments and applications where the volume of documents to be processed is not compatible with single feed and greater speed is required, we recommend the Panini Vision E or the EverneXt.

The mI:Deal is very compact, with a modern design which conveniently fits any work desk.
Dimensions are 167 mm – 6.57” (width) x 201 mm – 7.91” (length) x 81 mm – 3.19” with closed pocket (height), and the weight is around 1.05 kg (2.3 lb).
